Frédéric Bétous

Artistic director and countertenor

After a specialized degree at the CNR conservatoire of Toulouse, Frédéric Bétous sings mainly under conductors Paul Van Nevel (Huelgas ensemble), Hervé Niquet (Le Concert Spirituel), Rachid Safir (Solistes XXI), Joël Suhubiette (Les Éléments & Jacques Moderne), Antoine Guerber (Diabolus in Musica)…

His attraction to the polyphonic repertoire led him to found La Main Harmonique in order to explore the music masterpieces of the European Renaissance and investigate the role of the musician in the 21st century, by creating concert programmes mixing early and contemporary music.
Co-jointly with Nadia Lavoyer, he launched in 2011 the “Musique en Chemin” festival, programming ancient and contemporary music concerts, in Gascony the heart of Armagnac – , on the Route of Santiago de Compostela in northern Gers.
